Admission to the International Business Program

In order to maintain the quality of the program and to provide the necessary assistance for each student, admission to the international business major is limited to about 25 freshmen each year. Transfers are permitted from within the College or from other institutions on a space-available basis.

Freshmen international business majors are selected by Department of Business faculty. The selection process includes consideration of: (a) motivation and aptitude, (b) preparation for international business study, (c) leadership and communications, and (d) interest in international business.

Prospective students who are interested in pursuing a degree in IB need to specify their intended major on their application form and submit the application with all supporting documentation to the Director of Admissions before March 15.  Applications received after March 15 will only be considered on a space available basis and will not be eligible for Department of Business scholarships.  The Admissions Office will first examine all completed applications to select the accepted students to the College.  The Department of Business faculty will subsequently evaluate the files of the students who have expressed an interest in International Business and are accepted to the College.  The Director of IB will then notify all applicants on the status of their applications into the IB program in writing.

Admission to the international business program does not imply that a student is guaranteed completion of the entire course of study. Generally, a student needs a 3.0 grade point average to qualify for a study abroad program which is a requirement for graduation in this major.
