Hands-on experience in the communications field is crucial. The department highly encourages its students to take advantage of experiential learning opportunities. In today's competitive market, graduating with a host of field experience will give you an edge.
Elizabethtown College is located in close proximity to several media markets—Lancaster, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.—each with a selection of radio stations, television stations, cable channels and publications. Likewise for corporate communication students, there are companies and non-profits galore at which you can intern. But, you don't have to stay close by either. Our communications students intern at media outlets and corporations across the country and across the ocean.
Here's a look at just some of the places communication majors gain real-world experience:
- Walt Disney World
- The Hershey Bears
Our students can also gain practicum credits while working on communications projects with on-campus organizations.
