Welcome to the dynamic, expanding world of our Japanese studies program!

Our major in Japanese Studies is an outcome of student enthusiasm and our College’s emphasis on and commitment to educating students about Asia. As of fall 2011, our major has fifty students with ten minors.

We aim to help students develop competence in Japanese through our courses which emphasize communicative competence and foster the development of all the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. We lay tremendous importance on measuring those outcomes objectively through our exit-level assessment tool: the JLPT.
