Engineering and Physics Projects

Elizabethtown Engineering and Physics students are involved in numerous projects in and around campus.

Facilities, Labs and Equipment

The Department of Engineering and Physics, located in the Masters Center for Science, Mathematics & Engineering, encompasses a collection of state-of-the-art laboratories and research spaces as well as areas for students to gather and study.

Programs

All our programs are designed around attention to the needs of individual students leading to outstanding successes at Elizabethtown and beyond. 

86% of the students entering their 2nd year as an engineering or physics major graduate with that degree.

93% of Etown Engineering and Physics graduates graduate in 4 academic years.  Nationally, only 50% of Engineering graduates do the same (ASEE Prism, April 2016)

Within one year of graduation, 96% of our engineering and physics graduates are in their first job or full-time graduate study.

BS Engineering 

This program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET,  http://www.abet.org and features open-ended team projects every year. A broad curricular and applied background allows students to excel in the current multidisciplinary nature of many engineering careers. From that broad foundation, students select a concentration of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Sustainable Design.  See catalog details including Program Educational Objectives and Student Learning Outcomes.  BS Computer Engineering 

This program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET,  http://www.abet.org and includes mastering both computer hardware and software design. Upper-level courses and research projects often have emphasis on robotics, machine intelligence, or green technologies. This is our oldest engineering program. BS Physics, BS Physics Secondary Education

The BS in Physics is preparation either for graduate school or for the technical job market. Excellent choice for self-motivated students with broad interests since the lower credit requirements allow for ample electives and possible double majors. The BS in Physics Secondary Education is offered in conjunction with the education department, leads to Pennsylvania teacher certification at the secondary level. Minor in Architectural Studies

Minor in Technical Design

Minor in Science Education

We participate in the General Science Education program for both the BS in General Science and the General Science Minor.

 

Elizabethtown College
