Leadership and Patel

Why Interfaith Leadership Studies?

Interfaith leadership and service are increasingly important in the arena of global politics, but also matter greatly in local communities, suburbs, and cities. We have national partnerships with Eboo Patel's Chicago-based Interfaith Youth Core, and have sponsored students to attend the IFYC Interfaith Leadership Institute.

Why Religious Studies?

In the 21st century, religion is as powerful a force in the world as it has ever been. In our program, you can learn about the religions of the world from books, and also from real-world experiences. We have connections with many local and regional churches, synagogues, and temples.

What made you decide to study religion and what made you decide to do so at Elizabethtown?Kristin Vines

I wanted to study religion because I’ve always been fascinated by the way religion has shaped people’s lives and cultures. I am passionate about inter-religious dialogue and building bridges of communication between religions. The passionate faculty and unbiased and open outlook of Elizabethtown’s Religious Studies department is what showed me that it was the perfect fit for me.

What has been your favorite memory of your study of religion here so far?

I don’t know if I have a specific favorite moment from studying Religious Studies at Elizabethtown, but I love every time I can connect something that I learned in a Religious Studies class to an event or experience in the wider world. Any time I can make that connection, I get giddy.
