A Message from Marianne Calenda

Elizabethtown College is a learning community that encourages you to explore possibilities, challenge the status quo and reach out to others who have different perspectives. It’s an experience designed to stretch rather than limit, and to guide rather than control.

At Elizabethtown, we emphasize personal responsibility for learning.  As an initial step, you will be invited to complete the Clifton StrenghtsFinder, which will help you discover your unique talents and how to use them to develop our plan for a purposeful life.  With assistance from our professional student Life staff and your academic advisor, you will be challenged to consider how your academic goals and career aspirations can be enhanced through intentional engagement in our exciting co-curricular programs.

I hope you will consider joining our signature leadership development program, Called to Lead, one of our Living-Learning Communities or one of our outstanding peer educator opportunities as  a Student Wellness Advocate, Resident Assistant, Writing Tutor or International Student Leader. Through your engagement outside the classroom, you will encounter unscripted challenges that will sharpen ethical decision making, enhance interpersonal skills and broaden your understandings of diverse cultures.

Welcome to Elizabethtown and best wishes for a life-changing learning experience.

-Marianne Calenda, Vice President for Student Life & Dean of Students
