A Message from Marianne Calenda

Elizabethtown College is a learning community that encourages you to explore possibilities, challenge the status quo and reach out to others who have different perspectives. It’s an experience designed to stretch rather than limit, and to guide rather than control.

At Elizabethtown, we emphasize self-direction and personal responsibility. As an initial step, you will be invited to participate in the valuable e4 program, which will help you discover your personal strengths and outline goals for your college experience. With assistance from our professional student life staff and your academic advisor, you will be challenged to consider how your academic goals and career aspirations can be enhanced through participation in our exciting co-curricular programs.

I hope you will consider joining our signature leadership development program, Called to Lead, one of our new Living-Learning Communities or one of our outstanding peer educator opportunities as a Writing Tutor, Resident Assistant, Peer Board Member or OSA or SPARQ planner. Through your engagement outside the classroom, you will encounter unscripted challenges that will sharpen ethical decision making, enhance interpersonal skills and broaden your understandings of diverse cultures.

Welcome to Elizabethtown and best wishes for a life-changing learning experience.

-Marianne Calenda, Dean of Students
