Application Instructions for Traditional Day Students:

Prospective Students

Beginning in October, the Financial Aid Office will mail financial aid application instructions to all students who have APPLIED to the College. You must be accepted to the College before any financial aid is awarded. You do not need to be accepted to the College to begin the process of applying for financial aid.  For maximum consideration for need-based financial aid, apply by March 15, 2017.

Create an FSA ID
The first step to applying for federal student aid is completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (or the FAFSA®). Before you fill out your FAFSA watch this video to learn how to create an FSA ID―a username and password― that replaced the Federal Student Aid PIN.

You will need an FSA ID to electronically sign and submit your FAFSA, as well as to make any needed corrections later. And if you are a dependent student, your parent will need his or her own FSA ID, too.

Do not allow someone to create your FSA ID for you, and you should not create one for someone else. Not even for a family member. This can cause problems with your financial aid down the road.

Check out this video for helpful information about creating an FSA ID and filling out the FAFSA, and for more resources, visit http://StudentAid.gov/fsaid

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • The best way to complete the FAFSA is on the Web (www.fafsa.gov) using your FSA ID.  The student and at least one parent will each need their own FSA ID.  If your family has not already done so, apply for your FSA IDs by going to the federal government's website https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa/filling-out/fsaid.
  • Elizabethtown College's Federal School Code is 003262.
The Financial Aid Office will process applications and mail financial aid award letters beginning late October, 2016!

Returning Students

Beginning in February, the Financial Aid Office will mail financial aid application instructions to all returning students.  For maximum consideration for need-based financial aid, apply by April 1, 2017.

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Complete the FAFSA using FAFSA on the Web.
  • Elizabethtown College's Federal School Code is 003262

Returning students will receive notification of their 2017-2018 need-based financial aid from June 1 through mid-July.  We notify on-time students alphabetically (A through Z).

Application Instructions for School of Continuing and Professional Studies Students:

A packet of the required financial aid forms is available through the Financial Aid Office or various Continuing and Professional Studies Offices. The deadline for priority financial aid consideration and PHEAA Grant eligibility is May 1st. For students not meeting the May 1st deadline, we strongly encourage you to apply at least ONE MONTH before your first class begins. You must be accepted to the College as a degree-seeking student before any financial aid is awarded. You do not need to be accepted to the College to begin the process of applying for financial aid.

2016-2017 school year: based on 2015 income

  1. FAFSA (Submit at least ONE MONTH prior to start of first class. PHEAA Grant deadline is May 1st)

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). We recommend using FAFSA on the Web. Elizabethtown's Federal School Code is 003262 .

RECOMMENDATION: We encourage you to apply for your FSA ID beforehand. The FSA ID serves as a student's electronic signature. Parents (for dependent students) may also apply for an FSA ID to serve as their electronic signature. Students and parents may apply for their FSA ID online at https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa/filling-out/fsaid.

  2. Employer Educational Assistance Verification Form (Submit at least ONE MONTH prior to start of classes)

PHEAA requires all part-time students who are potential PHEAA Grant recipients to have their employers verify tuition reimbursement levels. Students are only eligible for PHEAA Grants to the extent that their tuition is not covered by tuition reimbursement. This form may be picked up in the Continuing Education or Financial Aid Office or mailed to you. After you and your employer complete the form, return it to the Financial Aid Office at least ONE MONTH prior to start of classes.

After receiving all required information and confirming your acceptance status with the Continuing and Professional Studies department, our office will calculate your financial aid eligibility within two weeks.

Since the Continuing and Professional Studies semester format is based upon Accelerated 5-Week Sessions, please review "Accelerated Courses & Financial Aid Eligibility" located here.
