What to Bring

Moving into your college residence hall is an exciting time. So exciting that you may forget to bring something. The Office of Residence Life has put together a list of items you may want to bring along with you -- as well as provided a list of items that should not come to campus with you.

 For Your Room

  • Bedding - pillow, sheets, blanket (beds are standard Twin size)
  • Area rug (most rooms have tile floors)
  • Towels and washcloths
  • Caddy to store and carry shower items
  • Personal hygiene items, band-aids, cough drops, tissues, etc.
  • Bathrobe and shower shoes
  • Computer
  • Headphones
  • Office supplies - planner, notebooks, folders, pens, highlighters, etc.
  • TV/DVD player - for more specific information on what kind of TV to bring, please see the ITS website.
  • Power strip with surge protector
  • Fan
  • Desk or reading lamp
  • Storage containers
  • Hangers
  • Laundry bag/basket
  • High Efficiency laundry detergent
  • Ironing board and iron
  • Trash basket
  • Hangers
  • Storage containers
  • Microfridge (less than 4.3 cubic feet)
  • Microwave (up to 1000 watts or 9 amps)
  • Dishes and dishsoap
  • Bulletin board/Door message board (white board)
  • Posters, bulletin board, message board
  • Students must use Dorm Tape (Mavalus brand) to adhere items to the walls. This product can be purchased online, from Residence Life staff on check-in day, or in the College Store

 What Not to Bring

  • Cooking appliances with exposed heating elements
  • Grills
  • Toaster or toaster oven
  • Fireworks or explosives
  • Space heater
  • Candles
  • Bed risers
  • Halogen lamps
  • Pets: only non-carnivorous fish are allowed in a tank up to 10 gallons

Furniture Provided for You

  • Standard twin bed (most of our beds can be lofted)
  • Desk and chair
  • Dresser
  • Wardrobe or closet

All furniture that the College provides must remain inside the room.

THE COLLEGE DOES NOT PROVIDE STORAGE DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS.
