Graduation Day To-Do's

With graduation just a few days away, it can feel like your to-do list grows longer as your time remaining on campus grows shorter. Here’s some last minute tips to help you make the most of your final days in the nest:

Take a few final photos

Graduation means your time at college has come to a close, and with that in mind, you’ll want to find a way in your last day on campus to preserve and help you remember all of your favorite people and places. Graduation may be your last time on campus for a while, so take time now to snap one last photo with important people in your life and of sentimental spaces! Whether that is your first year dorm or a photo with your academic advisor, photos will help you remember everything you loved about college.

Say thank you to the people who impacted you

The last four years have been a whirlwind of experiences and moments you’ll want to remember forever. Along the way, you’ve likely met some people, whether a cherished professor or an empathetic librarian who helped you find a writing manual more than once, who have brightened your days. Graduation is a great opportunity to let the people around you know how they have helped you grow, learn and become the person you are today.

Make sure all of your stuff is out of your room

This seems simple, but doing a double-check before you lock your door can save you the hassle of turning the car around to pick up the last pile of old textbooks that you left by the door. In the flurry of activity, it’s easy to leave things behind. Speaking of leaving things behind…

Return keys, passcodes, etc

…make sure you return all of your keys, passcodes, or copies of anything you’ve borrowed. Maybe you had a job on campus where you had access to locked buildings or closets. Returning the keys on time saves you from lost key charges. Is your microwave on loan from an old roommate? Be sure to return it before you all break for the summer.

Breathe

Graduation day can feel overwhelming. From the anticipation of finally walking across the stage to celebrating your accomplishment with family and friends, the day can feel as if it is flying by. Take a few moments to breathe and appreciate your accomplishment and really take in the day.
