A Sneak-Peek At Homecoming 2019!

The leaves are falling, the weather is turning cooler, and soon alumni, faculty, students and families will be gathering on campus. Homecoming weekend is just around the corner, Blue Jays! We know it’s not possible to attend everything, so we’ve created a list of the most popular events.

homecoming1. Homecoming Parade and Float-Building Party

A great place to start is with our kickoff Homecoming Parade and Float-Building Party. Come on out to the Elizabethtown Fairgrounds Friday at noon to join in the fun! Students build their own floats, many of them to represent an organization or club on campus. The rest of the campus community gathers to watch as they march down the parade route. It’s an event that brings the whole Blue Jay family together.

2. Class of 2019 Zero-Year Reunion

If you’re a member of the Class of 2019, then you don’t want to miss your Zero-Year Reunion at Funk Brewing. Just be sure to make a reservation and clear your calendar from 8 to 10 p.m. on Friday night.

3. Entertainment from Student Clubs and Organizations

If you’re looking for something in the way of entertainment, we have everything from comedy to sports. Mad Cow has been polishing their improv skills all semester, and our men’s soccer team has been practicing for their match against Susquehanna University. If you come out for the game on Saturday, be sure to stay for the halftime Homecoming court presentation.

4. The 16th Annual Oktoberfest Party and Class Reunions Extravaganza

The highlight of the weekend for many will be reconnecting with classmates and professors. The Oktoberfest combines that with delicious food and local brews. Our 16th Annual Oktoberfest Party promises to be the best one yet! Featuring German food and drink, live music from the Duswat Dixie Dutchers band, and fun activities the whole family can enjoy, this party is the must-attend event of the weekend.

Throughout the day on Saturday, you’ll want to stop by our Homecoming Fair on the Academic Quad. There you’ll find crafts and food, T-shirts and other keepsakes sold by current students and local artisans. Take home a souvenir to remind you of this year’s Homecoming, or even start your holiday shopping early.

6. The 9th Annual M.V.P. Spectacular

Each of Etown’s a cappella groups well-known around campus. Together, they create an experience to remember. For the 9th year, Melica, Vocalign, and Phalanx are performing for our Homecoming celebration. Come to the Musser Auditorium in the Leffler Chapel and Performance Center and get ready to hear all your favorite songs performed by our talented student vocalists.

7. Meals with Fellow Blue Jays

At the end of the day, we invite you to our annual Homecoming Jazz Dinner Buffet in the Marketplace. Enjoy delicious food and decadent desserts (including our famous carrot cake), while listening to live jazz. And when you’re hungry again the next morning, the Marketplace will be open for our Family Brunch. Later in the day, you can walk off all that delicious food. The event benefits our Cross Country and Track and Field teams.

Whether you only attend one event or try to do them all, you’re sure to find something to reconnect you and your Blue Jay family. We look forward to having you on campus! This weekend, as in every day of the year, we are Blue Jays. Always.
