Elizabethtown College is excited to offer several summer programs for students of various ages. These programs provide opportunities to learn from our faculty and staff experts while engaging in engaging and immersive activities. Check out the list of programs available this summer:

Engineering Summer Academy

July 15-19, 2024


Use engineering, creativity, and scientific innovation to explore the Grand Challenges for Engineering in the 21st Century. Through this program you will learn about many different engineering career paths, all while continuing to develop skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork.

Music Camp

July 14-20, 2024


The Elizabethtown College Music Camp is open to all serious music students going into grade 7 through 12 who perform on the following:

  • Wind instruments (flute/piccolo, clarinet, saxophone(s), oboe, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, baritone, euphonium, tuba)
  • Strings (violin, viola, cello, bass)
  • Percussion
  • Voice
  • Piano

Campers will spend the week immersed in various music-making opportunities including ensembles, masterclasses, music theory, and performance. There are also voluntary recreational activities planned by our housing staff each evening after performances.

The camp will be held at the expansive Bowers Center for Sports, Fitness and Well-Being and is run by Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Jeff Moore, and Human Performance Lab Director, Nate Hammon.

Each athlete will be given a pre and post testing on:
  • 20/40 yard dash
  • Vertical jump
  • Broad jump
Sessions will include:
  • 75 minutes of speed training to help develop a solid foundation of linear and change of directional speed
  • Fun and competitive games that challenge the athlete’s skill development
  • Fun and exciting drills that use bands, harnesses, hurdles, agility ladders and med balls that drives athletes to compete harder with each other in a safe and controlled environment
Participants can expect to receive:
  • Sound coaching with a proven track record that truly develops athletes’ ability to get faster
  • Improvement with form running, linear acceleration, first step quickness and change of directions
  • Development of a solid foundation of rhythm and coordination that will transition to proper running economy and better execution on the field/court
What to bring: Athletic apparel, training shoes, cleats, water bottle, sunscreen, small bag/backpack, signed PAR-Q and Parent/Guardian Release Form if not submitted via email

Speed Camp

June 3 - July 24, 2024


Etown Speed Camp is a 7-week, twice per week summer camp that will get any athlete ready for their sport through sound coaching techniques on form running, linear acceleration, first step quickness, and change of directions. Every athlete will be tested at the beginning and end of the camp to measure their athletic performance improvement over the course of the 7-week span.

Momentum Summer Coding Academy (Registration Closed)

July 1 - August 9, 2024


Elizabethtown College’s School of Engineering and Computer Science, in collaboration with the Lancaster County STEM Alliance and Cargas, will host the Momentum Summer Coding Academy, a six-week program for high school students. It aims to spark interest in STEM, especially in computer programming, and offers college credit. The curriculum includes JavaScript, database management, game and web development, and cybersecurity. Participants will also be offered mentorship by current college students, gaining professional skills like resume writing, networking, and post-secondary guidance, preparing them for future education and careers.
