Commuting Students
There are different types of commuter students here at Etown. Students who live within a 30 mile/30 minute radius from campus and with family are called true commuters. We have SGPS and part-time students who also are considered true commuters. Then we have students for a few different reasons who may pay to break the housing agreement or have a medical or financial exemption to live off-campus on their own. Regardless of the type of commuter you are, we are here to help ensure you are connected to the campus to the best of our ability.
Commuters will check-in with residential students each semester to activate their ID cards and make sure they're ready for a successful academic start. New commuters will attend New Student Orientation, including sessions just for commuters. Throughout the year, Commuter Engagement (a branch of the Office of Student Activities or OSA) will host commuter specific programs on and off-campus.
If you are ever in need of support as a commuter, please reach out to Brooke Hollinger, Assistant Director of Student Activities and Commuter Engagement. Brooke's office is on the 2nd floor of the BSC in 255.
