Stamps Scholarship Benefits

Tuition:

The Stamps Scholarship is equal to 100% of the value of the annual cost of tuition at Elizabethtown College. The Stamps Scholarship is awarded in addition to need-based aid and any other third-party merit aid up to the total cost of attendance. The scholarship is renewable for up to eight semesters.

Enrichment Fund:

Stamps Scholars receive $6,000 in enrichment funds to enhance their educational experience over the course of their college career. These funds can be used for study abroad, internship support, leadership development, participation in conferences, and other qualified educational activities.

Honors Program:

Stamps Scholars are automatically admitted to the Elizabethtown College Honors Program. This gives scholars access to Honors housing, course offerings, and programming.

Mentorship:

Stamps Scholars are mentored by the Elizabethtown College Stamps Scholars Program Director as well as a designated Faculty Guide, a faculty member at Etown who works closely with each cohort of scholars throughout their college experience.

Community on Campus:

Stamps Scholars at Etown are part of a community, gathering regularly for retreats on and off campus, to engage in service activities, for conversation over dinner with guest speakers, and informally to share with and learn from one another during their time in college.

National Network:

Stamps Scholars are part of a national network of highly talented and ambitious students from dozens of Stamps Scholars Programs across the country. These scholars come together every two years for the Stamps Scholars National Convention. Stamps Scholars Programs frequently host regional conferences that provide additional leadership development and networking opportunities to Stamps Scholars.

Process for Stamps Scholar Selection

Admission Criteria

Stamps Scholars are selected based on their scholarship, leadership potential, commitment to service, and innovation. The Stamps Scholarship is open to US Citizens, US Permanent Residents, and International Students. All students who submit a complete application to Elizabethtown College by January 16 are considered for the scholarship. Applicants are evaluated with respect to all the criteria described below.

Scholarship Performs at an outstanding level of academic achievement as evidenced through grades and/or standardized test scores

Engaged in academic pursuits by taking the most challenging curriculum offered and/or engaging in research, internship, or work

Exhibits intellectual curiosity
Leadership Potential Takes initiative, whether through formal or informal leadership roles

Develops leadership ability over time

Inspires others to action
Commitment to Service Engages in service beyond requirements

Committed to service through significant and/or sustained time investment

Exhibits empathy and caring attitude
Innovation Desires to make change in the world

Discusses ambitious goals that reflect novel ideas

Selection Process

January 16 - Deadline to submit complete application to the College. No separate application is required to be considered for the Stamps Scholarship. Standardized test scores and an Admissions interview are strongly recommended but not required.

February - Approximately 20 semi-finalists will be invited for interviews with Elizabethtown Stamps Scholars Program Director and affiliated faculty

March 1 - Approximately 10 finalists will be invited for a final Stamps Scholarship interview. If you have not been contacted by March 1, you are no longer being considered for the Stamps Scholarship.

April 1 - Winners of the Stamps Scholarship will be notified by the Elizabethtown Stamps Scholars Program Director

May 1 - Deadline to accept Stamps Scholarship
