Starting College at GCES
Our hands-on, team-based first-year engineering program focuses on enhancing your building and fabrication skills, boosting your confidence in math and physics for engineering, and igniting your sense of mission and purpose. This program is an excellent fit if you:

- Seek to strengthen your building and fabrication skills.
- Value collaboration and teamwork with faculty and fellow students.
- Want to explore college and engineering closer to home before transferring to Pennsylvania.
Seamless Transition
Earn credits for the same courses as a first-year engineer at Etown, but in a unique, hands-on, team-based, and sustainability-focused program. After your Vermont experience, you can effortlessly transition to Elizabethtown College's Pennsylvania campus or explore options for transferring credits to other engineering schools.
Option Two: Semester Away Program
Spend a Semester Studying at GCES
Immerse yourself in sustainable engineering at GCES in Montpelier, Vermont. At GCES, you won't just learn about engineering; you'll experience it firsthand through real-world, hands-on projects. These projects are carefully curated to support your learning and give you the chance to design and build a sustainable future. This unique Elizabethtown College program is supported by Greenway and operates as an "innovation center" for Etown's engineering program.

We use an integrated approach that incorporates the best educational practices, setting us apart from traditional institutions. GCES fosters a supportive community, providing relevant, participative, hands-on, and mastery-assessed instruction to ensure every student gains the confidence, competence, and connections needed to thrive in engineering.
Course Offerings
Courses at GCES align seamlessly with Elizabethtown College's second-year engineering program requirements. All courses focus on hands-on projects, enabling you to apply your knowledge to real-world and community applications.
For Etown students, successful completion of GCES courses ensures you stay on track for graduation as if you were on the main campus. Students who successfully complete GCES courses will graduate on par with those on the main campus. Visiting students are enrolled and earn credits at Elizabethtown College, which boasts a top-ranked ABET-accredited engineering program.
