4+4 Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine – Pre-medical Primary Care Program
Information on the early assurance program with the Pennsylvania State University can be found on our Pre-medical Primary Care landing page. Note: Applications to Elizabethtown College and this program must be submitted before January 15 to be considered. Criteria for this program include:
- Applicant must show an interest in medicine in their application
- Must be a Pennsylvania resident
- Should rank in the top 10% of their high school graduating class
- Must have completed (a) three years of natural sciences including: biology, chemistry, and physics and (b) mathematics through trigonometry (calculus is recommended).
- SAT or ACT scores are optional, however for those students who have included standardized test scores, preference is given to students having earned a minimum score of 1250 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or an equivalent score of 26 on the ACT.
Application for this program includes the completion of an essay describing why they seek to practice in a rural and/or medically underserved area and why they have an interest in practicing primary care medicine. Students will interview with HPAC before being recommended for a second interview with the admissions committee at PSU College of Medicine. Those deemed to have excellent potential for a career in primary care will be accepted for the Pre-Medical Primary Care Program at Elizabethtown College as well as be granted provisional acceptance to the PSU College of Medicine.
4+4 Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) Early Acceptance Program
Elizabethtown College offers preferred admission to Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) through the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program. For the 4+4 program, a minimum GPA of 3.3 in science courses and an overall GPA of 3.4 by the end of the junior year are required. High school seniors interested in the program should contact LECOM directly via the inquiry link on their website. Following the LECOM interview, LECOM will notify Elizabethtown College's HPAC and the student of their provisional acceptance status. Current Elizabethtown College students can also apply in their first or second year. 4+4 Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) Program
Elizabethtown College offers a preferred admission agreement to Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) for the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine/B.S. 4+4 Program. To be eligible, students must be US citizens or permanent residents, have a minimum GPA of 3.5 in science courses and an overall GPA of 3.5 by the end of their junior year at Elizabethtown College. Required courses at Elizabethtown College lead to a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology or Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. Current Elizabethtown College students can apply in their second or third year. Following the PCOM interview, PCOM will inform Elizabethtown College's HPAC and the student of their provisional acceptance status to the PCOM Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Program.
