Dr. Matthew Telleen
Dr. Matthew Telleen was named Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs in May 2024. Prior to his current appointment, Provost Telleen served as associate professor of communications and legal studies and as President of Faculty Assembly. He has been a member of the Blue Jay community since 2012. He has taught courses related to communications and law in several disciplines, including communications, political science, philosophy, business and English. His research focuses on corporate political speech, commercial speech, and First Amendment Theory.
As the chief academic program officer of the College, Dr. Telleen reports directly to the President, serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and as liaison to the Academic Mission and Student Experience Committee of the Board of Trustees, and works closely with the School Deans and other academic leaders and Center Directors to provide strategic direction and oversight of the College’s academic and co-curricular programs. He is responsible for educational personnel issues including faculty appointments and tenure and promotion reviews and for advising the President on all major matters of resource allocation within the academic areas of the College including construction and other capital projects, space allocation, and distribution of new positions within the faculty.
Dr. Telleen earned his B.A. of Arts in Communication from Pacific Lutheran University, his J.D. from the University of Minnesota, and his Ph.D. in Communications from the University of South Carolina.
