Etown Alumni Presenters
Jaime Ramos '18
Hello! My name is Jaime Ramos II and I am a graduate of the class of 2018 (Communications major). During my junior year at Etown, I had the incredible opportunity to spend a semester studying abroad in Valladolid, Spain. During my semester abroad, I traveled through eight countries in Europe and one country in Africa! My time abroad inspired me so much that I decided to join the Peace Corps right after graduation. I carried out my Peace Corps Service in Peru and I lived there for nearly two years where I worked with kids on improving their leadership skills and career success. Traveling the world is my passion and I'm excited to see everything else the world has to offer in the near future!
Melissa Germano '19
¡Hola! My name is Melissa Germano and I’m a recent graduate of Elizabethtown College; I majored in Spanish Education, studied abroad in Valladolid, Spain and was also involved in the College’s Honors Program. Following graduation, I headed to Spain on a Fulbright Scholarship as an English Teaching Assistant. After my first grant period in La Rioja, I realized how strong of an impact my community of students, colleagues, and students’ families had on my life, so I decided to apply to renew my Fulbright for a second year – this year as the mentor for incoming grantees. I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to share my experiences with you and explain how Elizabethtown College’s Spanish Education major and the study abroad program shaped this career path for me
Nelli Orozco '17
My name is Nelli Orozco, I'm a Etown alum from the class of 2017! I I graduated with a degree in Spanish Education and I chose to study abroad in Valladolid, Spain for the 2015-16 academic year! In Spain, I was able to live abroad with a host family and take all my courses in Spanish while getting to travel all over Spain and Europe! My time abroad made such a tremendous impact on my life and shortly after returning home from my year abroad I knew in my heart that I had to return. I then sought after the Office of Prestigious Scholarships and Fellowships and applied for a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant grant in the country of Spain. Since then, I've been living in Spain as an English teaching assistant! In the future I see myself working in the field of international education helping others towards their study abroad paths or even working onsite abroad as a resident director for a study abroad company! Studying abroad truly allows you to discover yourself and the world on a deeper level and I strongly recommend finding a way to study abroad during your college career whether it be for a semester, summer or entire year!
