Personal Data and Protection Principles
Personal Data
Personal Data refers to any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. An identifiable natural person with a relationship with the college who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person.
The Six Data Protection Principles
The College is required to adhere to the six principles of data protection, which means that information must be collected and used fairly, stored safely and not disclosed to any other person unlawfully. The six principles include:

Personal data shall be accurate and kept up to date, where applicable. -
Storage Limitation.
Personal data processed for any purpose shall not be kept for longer than is necessary for that purpose. Archiving, scientific or historical research, or statistical purposes is permissible. -
Integrity and Confidentiality.
Personal data shall be processed in a manner that ensures appropriate security including protection against unauthorized or unlawful processing and against accidental loss, destruction or damage, using appropriate technical or administrative measures and controls.
Changes to your Personal Information
Please notify the office responsible for managing your academic or employment record about any changes to the Personal Information you have voluntarily provided to us. This is particularly important with respect to your contact information, especially emergency contact details. If you are a current student, you may use the JayWeb portal to update student information. Employees, and student employees, of the college should contact Human Resources.
Protection of your Personal Information
Elizabethtown College takes reasonable and appropriate measures to manage and protect Personal Data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.
Revisions to this Privacy Policy
Elizabethtown College reserves the right, at our sole discretion, to change, modify, add, remove, or otherwise revise portions of our policies and this Privacy Notice at any time, consistent with the requirements of applicable law. When we do, we will post the revision(s) on this website. The “Effective Date” at the top of this Privacy Notice reflects the date of the most recent revisions.
