Students will receive 4 academic credits for higher level (HL) examinations transcribed with a score of four or higher.
-
IB Diploma recipients, a student earning a total score of 30 or higher, may earn up to a maximum of 32 academic credits (equivalent to sophomore status). Credits can only be awarded when an official score report has been received in the Office of Registration and Records. Score minimums are outlined above.
-
IB Certificate recipients, a student earning a score outlined above may earn Core Program or Free-elective credits for each qualifying course. A School dean, or program director, may grant an introductory course equivalent in their discipline or area of expertise.
Other course credits from institutions outside of the United States are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. For example, Cambridge International (Advanced Level or A-Level) examinations.
Students are required to request the organization submit their official transcripts and/or scores directly to the Office of Registration and Records. For precise placement determinations, we may request a review of the course syllabus or examples of written work. If an accurate evaluation of foreign credentials is not possible, the student may be requested to secure, at their expense, a professional evaluation from a nationally recognized organization like World Education Services (WES), www.wes.org.
The IB website has instructions on how alumni of their program can request IB transcripts. Transcripts are evaluated on an individual basis.
Cambridge International: General Certification of Education (GCE) Advanced Level, or A-Level
International A-levels are the most widely used qualification for entry to British universities because they are based on the well-established and internationally recognized. A-level examinations are typically taken by students two years after O-level or IGCSE examinations. International A-level syllabi are offered in numerous academic subject areas.
Cambridge International Examinations, A Level, may be considered for the award of college transfer credit. Students are required to submit official GCE A-level results (not just a student's photocopy) and to meet with the appropriate department chair that governs the course discipline. No grade below C is considered. Syllabi or examples of written work may be requested by faculty for precise placement determinations. Most typically, the credit awarded is one or two terms at the introductory level.
No degree credit is awarded for AS-, AO- or O-level (Ordinary) results.
How do I obtain an official transcript of my score?
Cambridge International Examinations has an official transcript request form for ordering copies of your Cambridge International A-level score results. The scores must be sent directly to our office for review. We cannot accept documents sent directly to the student.
