RETURNING STUDENT HOUSING LOTTERY AND SELECTION INFORMATION
Housing Selection Information for 2023-2024 has been sent to your Etown email.
ILUs and Roommate Groups
You will be required to fill all spots in an ILU for fall semester at the time of selection. Incomplete units will not be accepted.
ILUs do not all have the same number of bed spaces. All Hackman Apartments and Quads have 4 beds. Brinser has suites that have 2, 3, and 4 beds. The college-owned houses have 4 and 5 beds, depending on the house.
If, for whatever reason, someone from your roommate group no longer wishes to or is eligible to live in your chosen ILU, you may have the option to pull in another eligible roommate. It is possible that you will be assigned someone from the waitlist, depending on the time of year.
Single Rooms
Single rooms are only available for students with a documented medical accommodation that is approved by the Office of Disability Services. The single room waitlist is managed by the Office of Disability Services.
December Graduates
If you are graduating in December, please notify your roommate(s) now. We will work to fill your space over winter break if you do not have someone to take your place.
Graduate Student Housing
On-campus housing is mandatory for undergraduate students in their first 8 semesters (4 years) on campus. 5th year and Graduate Students can express interest in on-campus housing, but we cannot guarantee placement. Graduate Student housing assignments are made if there are available beds after incoming students’ assignments are confirmed. Our team likely will not be able to confirm that there are beds available until August. It is important that you have a backup plan if you plan to explore living on campus as a Graduate Student. Please note, Graduate Students cannot select roommates for this option. We place Graduate Students in any beds that are available within our housing options.
LIVING-LEARNING/THEME COMMUNITIES
Returning Students will have the opportunity to apply for the following living learning communities.
Animal Free Living
Animal Free living is for students who may have cultural, wellness, or other reasons for living in an animal free environment. Students choosing to live in animal free commit to not bringing animals of any kind into the community, including assistance or emotional support animals approved by the College. Location will be determined by need and by preferences of those requesting this community.
Business Block—Founders Hall
Business Block is a community designed to support business majors at Etown. This living learning community is sponsored by the Business Department. Students will live amongst other Business students and have access to residential tutors with an emphasis in business.
Social Change Community--Royer Hall
The Social Change LLC is a community designed with the focus on establishing community through a lens of transformation both within residence halls and through student leadership on campus. Students will understand how to engage in critical conversations rooted in anti-racism, oppression/ anti-oppression, race, white supremacy, intersectionality, identity, and critical components of society. Students who are aligned with these values who are committed to social change are willing to engage in actions, conversations, transformations that uplift and liberate others through the process of learning, truth-seeking, relationship-building/ relationality, and shared experiences.
Stonewall—Founders & Myer Halls
Stonewall is a gender-inclusive housing option available for any student who identifies as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. By choosing the Stonewall Community, you are stepping into a supportive and inclusive residential experience that features opportunities for discussion, leadership, and engagement.
Gender Inclusive Housing (ILUs, Myer Hall and the Stonewall Community)
We want to remind you that the College is committed to fostering a fully inclusive campus community that recognizes and celebrates members of different races, ethnicities, nationalities, economic backgrounds, ages, abilities, sexual orientations, and spiritual values. As such, our housing practices afford gender inclusive housing to students of alternative sexuality or gender identity, as well as their allies, and other students who would feel most comfortable and safe in a living environment other than the traditional roommate pairings.
Wellness
The Wellness Community is for students who wish to explore holistic wellness in a substance free community. Students in this community will explore different aspects of wellness and well-being through campus and community resources.
